Marital or relationship counseling
Couples struggle at times with issues that threaten the future of the relationship. Poor communication, affairs, addictions, or blended family issues can all place great strain on a relationship. Counseling can help identify the problems and come up with strategies to get the relationship back on track.
In therapy each client should be viewed as a whole person with inter-related spheres of emotional, mental, physical, social and spiritual aspects. We seek to identify problem areas but also those areas of strength to build upon in the process of addressing the problem.
The quality of our staff is reflected by their academic and professional credentials as well as by their substantial individual and collective experience in the fields of mental health, addictions and employee assistance work.
Counseling is a journey to promote growth. With or without a counselor every human has the capacity to change. Life presents many challenges, timely opportunities to improve in a significant way. Sometimes those opportunities present as a crisis.
Crisis is a warning that we are in jeopardy, an obvious alert that something is seriously wrong. Yet crisis can be a unique opportunity for insight that results in knowledge, understanding and positive change. We often need guidance and support to grow from the experience and not just merely survive the crisis.
Frequently individuals seek counseling because they are unfulfilled, frustrated, angry, depressed or fearful. They dislike a certain aspect of their life but are uncertain how to change it. Reacting the same way for some time, they achieve the same results. They are a frustrated employee, partner, spouse, sibling or co-worker. For some, staying at home all day in the safety of their house is better than interacting with life beyond the four walls. While the one is depressing, the alternative is horrifying. In all cases, the individual seeking therapy has become, “stuck.”
The essence of therapy: To become unstuck.
